Historics: SVRA announces Keenan Endurance Series partnership

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association announced Monday that its popular Endurance Series will be sponsored by Keenan Motors, a Mercedes Benz dealership located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

The Keenan Motors Endurance Series consists of 1-2 hour races, with at least one mandatory pit stop for both Vintage/Classic cars and Historic/GT machines at each of SVRA's East Coast events during the 2013 season.

In addition, there will be a National Championship race for each of the Keenan Motors Endurance Series categories at the U.S. Vintage National Championship scheduled for October 23rd through 27th, 2013, at a venue expected be announced shortly.

SVRA President and CEO, Tony Parella, said about the partnership:

“We are proud to have Keenan Motors as partner for our popular Endurance Series program. SVRA has a long history of support by its members and Jim Peruto, the owner of Keenan Motors, joins this exclusive group of competitors who see the value in supporting our organization.”

For his part, Mr. Peruto stated:

“I have known Tony as a vintage racer, where he impressed me with his intensity and passion for our sport. When I learned that he had taken over the SVRA, I knew we would be in good hands. Given Parella’s track record of success, it was a no-brainer to get involved at a higher level."

Founded in 1978, the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (originally called the Southeast Vintage Racing Association) has conducted Vintage Racing events at legendary tracks in the East and Southeast area of the country, including Watkins Glen International, Sebring International Raceway, Virginia International Raceway, Road America, and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Acquired in September, 2012 by Texas businessman and Vintage Racer, Tony Parella, SVRA has, according to the organization, "embarked on an aggressive program designed to bring the sport of Vintage Racing to a new level of professionalism and prominence. Among the key elements of this program are: the acquisition of the West Coast Vintage organization, Historic Sportscar Racing–West (HSR-West); the announcement of a set of simplified set of rules enforcement procedures; and an expansion of its East and West Coast race schedules to a record setting total of 17 events for the 2013 season."

As historic racing’s only national organization in the U.S., SVRA hopes to give participants the opportunity to experience events on both coasts, as well as Vintage Racing’s first ever National Championship.
