The Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester, England announced via press release on Tuesday, June 3, that Goodwood Action Sports (GAS) will return to be part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2014. Goodwood Action Sports includes a line-up of riders from the worlds of Freestyle Motocross, BMX, and Mountain Bikes that perform gravity-defying tricks and stunts during the weekend. These, along with historic and present race cars and other machines, contribute to a weekend celebrating the human desire for speed.
According to Goodwood, the list of riders for GAS represents stars from international action sports including X Games gold medalist and Freestyle Motocross founding father, Spaniard Edgar Torronteras and Czech ace Petr Pilat, whose daring tricks were popular with the GAS crowd in 2013.
Mountain Bike & BMX legends from around the world will battle to be crowned "King of GAS." The jump-filled course will be three times longer than in 2013.
Britain’s former world champion, Kye Forte, heads "the strongest list of BMX riders ever to appear at Goodwood," according to the motor circuit. Also in action will be American X Games heroes Brandon Dosch and Chris Doyle. GAS legend, 12-times Trials world champion Dougie Lampkin, will be showcasing his skills in the GAS Arena and in several ‘pop-up’ GAS shows across the weekend.
According to the motor circuit, spectators will have the opportunity to try Motocross, Trials, BMX and Mountain Bike riding in the GAS Experience zone. Goodwood will have a set of qualified instructors available, along with the safety equipment needed for adults and children.
About his upcoming participation, Edgar Torronteras commented, "I’ve heard so many amazing stories about Goodwood and the Festival of Speed from some of the other athletes that have visited – it’s going to be incredible performing in the UK."
"Last year at GAS we had such an awesome time, great weather, great people and such an unbelievable event," stated Petr Pilat. "I am stoked to be invited back."
Goodwood's Festival of Speed takes place at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester, England June 26-29. The event features historic race cars and legendary drivers, current race cars and drivers, motorcycles and riders, and other machines, pilots, and operators that celebrate human beings and their fascination with moving faster than they could with limbs alone.
