September 5 - 7, 2014 is Historical Weekend on Put-In-Bay island. This family oriented weekend offers a wide array of family friendly activities including a parade, musket and cannon firing demo's, Art in the Park, the Boy Scout Camp-O-Ree and much more.
The Grand Parade will take place on Saturday, September 6 at 2:15 p.m. The parade will have area veterans, local and regional dignitaries, 1,200 scouts, classic cars, high school marching bands, the captain of the USS Lake Erie, and 1812 re-enactors. Also on September 6 is Art in the Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at DeRivera Park. All different types of arts and crafts will be on display and for sale, plus there will be live demonstrations and a silent auction.
The Boy Scout Camporee will be taking place during historical weekend with over 1,200 scouts camping on the Perry Monument grounds. Also enjoy free open houses at the OSU Stone Lab/Gibraltar Island/Aquatic Center, South Bass Island Lighthouse and Lake Erie Islands Wildlife Center.
On Sunday, September 7 at 2 p.m., take in a game of baseball with the Muffins vs. Mossbacks. The Ohio Muffins will play the Put-in-Bay Mossbacks while using the original rules of baseball. The game will take place at the school diamond on Concord Avenue. Don't miss Historical Weekend at Put-In-Bay, where there's fun for the whole family.
