Snith and Walker posted a time of 1:40.709 and beat Peter Penz and Georg Fischler of Austria by 0.137 seconds to earn the bronze medal and right to step on the podium at a World Cup event in Koenigssee, Germany. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt of Germany recorded an overall time of 1:39.956 to win the gold medal, while Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken of Germany won the silver medal with a time of 1:40.253.
Snith and Walker had finished fourth four times before but have never stepped on to the podium for a prestigious international luge event until now. And the timing could not have been better because it comes with the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi with only one month to go.
The next World Cup luge event will take place in Oberhof, Germany next weekend.
