The Historic Columbia Foundation is offering its Early Adventures Program. The Early Adventures program is designed for private groups of 10 or more children (ages 3-8 years old) , it is perfect for daycares, birthday parties, schools, churches, clubs, and learning centers. All programs include story time, games, crafts and snacks and 2 activity leaders.Games and crafts will be determined according to participant’s age group.Each program last approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the number of participants.For January and February, the theme is Celebrating African-American Heritage in South Carolina.
Did you know that South Carolina has been home to many famous African-Americans? This month come explore the history of our state through some of its significant citizens from the past 200+ years that have made great accomplishments and gone on to bring distinction to our state.
Prominent African-Americans from South Carolina include: Jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, singer Eartha Kitt, the “Godfather of Soul,” James Brown, educator Mary McCloud Bethune, baseball player Larry Doby, NASA Administrator Gen. Charles Bolden, astronaut Ronald McNair and civil rights activists Modjeska Simkins, Jesse Jackson and I. DeQuincey Newman.
