Historic Columbia Candlelight Tours and Carriage Rides are on December 20
Historic Columbia has scheduled its annual Candlelight Tours and Carriage Rides for Friday, December 20. Unlike past years, where this has been offered on several evenings, this year is only the one date.
Enjoy the decorated halls of the historic Robert Mills House, the Hampton-Preston Mansion and Mann-Simons Site by candlelight on a guided tour. As the sesquicentennial of the end of the Civil War approaches, you will be able to glimpse into the lives of Columbians in the 1860s. Musical entertainment, children’s activities and interpretation of the houses will reflect the uncertainty of life in the South from viewpoints of enslaved workers to those of wealthy planters. Before or after your house tour, enjoy carriage rides through the Robert Mills historic district. Enjoy musical entertainment by Corner House from 7 - 9 pm at the Robert Mills House and by Jennifer Hill from 6 - 8 pm in the Hampton-Preston Mansion.
Stop by the Gift Shop at Robert Mills’ holiday open house throughout the evening for a last minute storewide sale as well as refreshments, holiday tunes and giveaways. Don’t forget to register for the happy holiday gift basket giveaway!
