The Florida State University Seminoles football team is already in Jacksonville to prepare for the 2010 Gator Bowl. But this is more than a mere football game. It is the end of an era. When this game against West Virginia is over, head coach Bobby Bowden will exit the field for the last time. After 33 years in collegiate football, Bobby Bowden will retire as the second winningest coach in history.
Among a sold-out crowd at the Gator Bowl will be many former FSU football greats such as Peter Boulware (College Football Hall of Fame), Chris Weinke (1999 Heisman Trophy winner), Charlie Ward, Samari Rolle and even two members of the original 1976 squad.
If you haven't been able to purchase tickets, you can still catch the Seminoles in practice at Jacksonville University Sunday, December 27th and Monday the 28th at 9:50 am. Tuesday the 29th, practice is at 11:50 am, then the final practice on December 30th will be held at 11:50 am. Bobby Bowden will be the keynote speaker at the Gator Bowl Breakfast on Tuesday, December 29th at 7:00 am. This FCA event is being hosted by the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.
