The zeal and fervour of the Tibetans directed towards celebrations of the Dalai Lama's 79th birthday has been infectious. Political leaders, administrative officers and locals were invited to attend the grand celebration of this occasion today by the Central Tibetan Administration in exile. Clearly Tibetans in China must be feeling great despair for having to miss this event.

Tibetan welfare officer in-exile, Sonam Dorjee, has said this year the Central Tibetan Administration wants to extend deep appreciation to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his wonderful leadership and contributions to the Tibetan cause. Thanks were also extended to the Dalai Lama for his efforts to promote religious harmony and promote human values.

The Tibetan government in-exile greeted the Dalai Lama for his birthday and vowed to resolve the Tibet issue with the Chinese
government by using the Tibetan spiritual leader's Middle Way Approach reports The Economic Times. The Tibetan Parliament in-exile has attributed the unity of its people to the Dalai Lama. It has been said his enlightened leadership has united Tibetans like an iron ball regardless of their regional or religious affiliations and in spite of the Chinese occupation of Tibet.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, was born on July 6, 1935, to a peasant family who lived in Taktser village in the
Amdo region of Tibet. The Dalai Lama has been living in exile in India since 1959 due to the Chinese Communist occupation of Tibet. His presence has been an inspiration for Buddhists worldwide of such a profound nature his influence will clearly live on eternally.
