It goes without saying that the Call of Duty franchise owes a lot of its massive success to its online multiplayer. Infinity Ward is aiming to make this year's Ghosts even more enjoyable with the implementation of dynamic multiplayer maps. We recently sat down with Activision's CEO, Eric Hirshberg, and asked him whether he thought these new maps were the biggest change fans can expect.
I hope so, it certainly is a really cool feature to my eyes. I think the Call of Duty multiplayer game has been incredibly successful and popular. I think it has a unique brand of fast-paced gameplay that our developers do better than anyone.
He went on to say that one of the key elements to the successful multiplayer comes with building maps that fans will enjoy playing multiple times. Until now, frequent players have been able to quickly learn a map's layout. This new game will have players actively changing the map by triggering different events. Hirshberg also stated that some events will be random, and that players will have to learn how much control they actually have over their surroundings. This random element not only adds to a map's replayability, but to the game's strategy, as players will have to quickly change their tactics to compensate for their shifting surroundings.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available for currently released consoles on November 5th. It will also be featured as a launch title for the PS4 and Xbox One when those consoles see their respective releases.
