Hip-Hop Day to bring Afrika Bambaataa, icons, FREE entertainment Oct 22 &23

Atlanta’s first Hip-Hop Day, a free two-day family festival, honoring Hip-Hop and raising awareness of critical community issues, is set to take place Sat. Oct. 22 & Sun. Oct. 23. at Woodruff Park, in the heart of downtown Atlanta.

The city-permitted festival, which has partnered with various groups including  SCLC; and several national and local artists, will be filled with activities, music, food, voter registration, live entertainment, and special performances.

Hip-Hop's Godfather, Afrika Bambaataa will join the two-day festival to be honored for his trail-blazing contributions to the musical genre. Additional honorees include: Master of Ceremonies Awardee, SoSo Def Records Founder Jermaine Dupri, Killer Mike, Grammy Award winning artist Mike Bigga, Fifth Element Award, Multi-platinum artist, actor & community supporter, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Master in the Community Awardee, artist and Atlanta legends Kilo Ali, Move The Crowd Award and DJ Jelly, Diggin’ in the Crates Awardee.

Atlanta’s hottest Hip-Hop Acts & DJ’s are also scheduled to perform including: Cyhi The Prince, Dolla Boy of Playaz Circle, Rich Kids, Charlie Boy Gang, Slim Dunkin, BFPL, Dru Smith, Da Kid, Money Jay, DJ T-Roc & The Rocharder DJs, DJ Knight & Fleet DJs, Hood Rich DJs, along withSlip N Slide Records andKonvict Music.

Founders Amir James and Arall Charles created the festival to raise awareness of 30 years of Hip-Hop Culture focusing on peace and positivity.

The Mission of Atlanta Hip-Hop Day is to expose the new generation of Hip-Hop to its’ original “Four Elements” which consists of: The MC, The DJ, Graffiti Art, & Breakdancing.Furthermore, the event will provide a platform for aspiring artists to expose their talents as well as provide small businesses in Atlanta an opportunity to market their services and sell merchandise.
