Out of the many joys the holiday season, one thing is certain. Following the film release of ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ about Mary Poppins and the recent live television special of ‘The Sound of Music,’ there is no one quite like Julie Andrews.

The Hingham Civic Music Theatre is thrilled to announce auditions for their spring musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘The Sound of Music’ on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 at Hingham Town Hall, 210 Central Street in Hingham, Massachusetts at 7 p.m.

Directed by Bill Boyer with music direction by John Duff and choreography by Janet Fortier, ‘The Sound of Music’ is the story of jubilant Maria, a young woman who becomes a governess to a naval widower and his large family during World War II. Filled with inspiring musical numbers such as ‘Edelweiss,’ ‘Climb Every Mountain,’ and ‘The Sound of Music,’ relive the stirring moments of this beloved family musical on Saturday, April 26, Sunday, April 27, Friday, May 2, Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4.

Audition candidates should bring a prepared selection of sheet music and accompaniment will be provided. There will also be cold readings from the script. Please dress comfortably to learn a dance combination.
