Move over President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. There is a new dream team for the Democrats in 2016. A running ticket with former Secretary of State and current First Lady Michelle Obama is causing some excitement for the Democratic Party, according to a March 13 Washington Examiner report.
Clinton has not announced any plans to run for president in 2016, but she started topping polls since the day she left office, and now, just the mention of her name for possible presidency elicits hope among her supporters. Add the name of another well respected woman – Michelle Obama, and it’s a homerun.
Clinton’s former spokeswoman Karen Finney told the Washington Examiner, “All due respect for President Obama and Vice President Biden, but that would truly be a dream team for America.” Kinney, who also spent time as a former Democratic Party spokeswoman added, “Both women are proven effective leaders who've raise children, so dealing with Congress would be a snap!”
While this is poised to be a great team, if it happens, there is concern that the celebrity that these two women bring to a potential ticket may override the political campaign. The Washington Examiner writes that pollster John Zogby is not so sure this is as great a ticket as everyday America hopes. “Hillary and Michelle are both very popular and accomplished, but this smacks of too much celebrity,” Zogby said. He contends that the duo is “a tad too dynastic for American voters.”
Will this be the ultimate “woman power” platform? Only time will tell.
