Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was hospitalized in New York on Sunday after a blood clot was found during a follow-up examination related to a concussion she suffered after a fall earlier this month. Clinton's fall has been linked to a stomach virus the Secretary of State contracted the week prior to the fall. She was not hospitalized for the virus or the concussion, but was under the care of doctors and ordered to rest up.
Clinton, 65, was reportedly admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Sunday after the clot was discovered during her check-up. Clinton will remain under observation at the hospital for at least 48 hours, which means she will be spending New Year's Eve under doctor's care.

Though it has yet to be confirmed, Clinton is likely being treated with blood-thinning drugs to help dissolve the clot. It is unknown where the clot was found, but were the clot to travel intact to Clinton's brain or lungs, the results could be fatal. Basically, blood-thinners help break up the clot before it can travel somewhere dangerous and get lodged in a vital passageway.
With Hillary Clinton hospitalized, there is buzz about the overall state of the best-selling author and former First Lady's health. The Secretary of State has said she will be giving up her post as soon as a suitable replacement can be vetted and selected; it is thought the grueling pace Clinton has been keeping during her tenure is just simply too much for anyone, let alone a woman of her advancing age. Clinton is known to cram visits to as many as three countries in a single day, keeping her assistants and press team on their toes and on the move.
Clinton admitted recently that she is starting to get "tired" trying to keep up with her official duties. It is still unclear whether or not the former First Lady will seek the presidency in 2016; Clinton has claimed to have no such plans, though some close to her say a firm decision is yet to be made.
