It was reported on Dec 31, 2012 that U.S. secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been hospitalized. She was suffering with a blood clot due to a concussion after a fall in mid-December, which was discovered during a follow-up exam on Sunday.
Clinton's spokesman, Philippe Reines, in his statement said that the clot was discovered by her doctors.
The blood clot had stemmed from the concussion she sustained several weeks ago. He said that Clinton is being treated at Presbyterian Hospital, NY where her condition is being monitored by doctors.
The hospital complex had earlier performed a heart bypass surgery on Clinton's husband, former U.S. president Bill Clinton.
Clinton was expected to return to work next week following a two weeks at home rest due to the concussion.
This is not the first time as Clinton was earlier in 1998 hospitalized when doctors diagnosed a clot behind her left knee. In 2005 also she fainted during a speech due to a stomach virus.
The fall which led to her concussion now was also due to weakness and fainting following extreme dehydration.
