Hillary Clinton glasses: Is Secretary of State seeing double?

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton may still have vision problems left over from her fall and subsequent blood clot in her head late last year. The former First Lady and possible future candidate for president appears to be wearing small plastic disks attached to her glasses, reports Daily Mail on Friday, Jan. 25. The stick-on lenses are used to correct double vision.

Pictures of Hillary Clinton testifying before the Senate seem to show tiny lines along the side of her glasses – a strong hint that Clinton is wearing a Fresnel prism. Eye experts have guessed this is so, although there is no official confirmation. “If she's wearing a Fresnel prism, then she has double vision without it,” said Dr. Mark Fromer, medical director at Fromer Eye Centers. Double vision, at this stage of life, would likely be due to an injury which causes a misalignment of the images sent by the two eyes.

Hillary Clinton does not normally wear glasses full time, but she has used them since the concussion, which happened when she fainted, after suffering a stomach virus. It seems that disasters have been piling up for the wife of former President Bill Clinton.

Professor Dan Reinstein said the Secretary of State's fall could have affected the muscles that control the movement of her eyes.

If all reports are true, says Reinstein of the London Vision Clinic, it “would imply the head injury may have affected her extraocular muscle balance.” Professor Reinstein added, “I doubt this will have any effect on her ability to see clearly all the way to 2016.” Obviously, the eye doctor follows American politics.
