Washington, DC – United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke out Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, about the video depicting U.S. Marines urinating on the dead bodies of Taliban fighters, agreeing with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta the action was “deplorable behavior.”

Earlier in the day, Panetta said, “I have seen the footage, and I find the behavior utterly deplorable... I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”

Clinton added, “Anyone found to have participated or known about it, having engaged in such conduct, must be held fully accountable.”

The video, leaked Wednesday morning, shows four Marines – who've been identified by the Marine Corps – urinating on the bodies of Taliban fighters who were killed in Afghanistan. According to reports, one of the soldiers jokes during the incident, saying, “Have a nice day, buddy.” Another says, “Golden, like a shower,”

Clinton continued by saying “The United States remains strongly committed to helping build a secure, peaceful, prosperous, democratic future for the people of Afghanistan, and we will continue to support efforts that will be Afghan-led and Afghan-owned to pursue the possibility of reconciliation and peace.”
