Hill-Freedman High School located at 6200 Crittenden Street is now accepting applications for 9th and 10th grade. The principal, Anthony Majewski is very hands on and available to answer an and all questions for prospective parents. According to Kayla Giddings, a ninth grader, “The school is very welcoming for new students.” Jason Temple, a ninth grade student, says “The work is way more challenging and exciting.” “The high school was envisioned and created by students, parents, and staff.” This can be felt and heard when you speak with the students. Hill-Freedman is supported by a partnership with Philadelphia School Partnership (provided 2.6 million dollar grant for high school expansion); Einstein Fellows, Bioeyes with the University of Pennsylvania; Math and Science partnership with Drexel University, Special Olympics of Philadelphia; and the Tim Academy. Each high school student receives a Chrome book and the parents are only expected to pay a one-time insurance fee that covers the laptop from any and all damage.
The school boasts small and personalized class size with an intimate teacher-student ratio. Specialized programs for students with Complex Support Needs are available that includes: autism, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, physical disabilities, and language impairments (One of the many points of pride).
This specialty school offers the International Baccalaureate Continuum for 9th -12th Grade courses. According to research, this creates independent learners, provided academic breadth and depth, encourages critical thinking, effective time management, and subjects are not taught in isolation. Students graduate prepared and motivated to become game changers in an ever changing global economy.
