Hill, Finken, Euforquestra, and more concerts to catch Friday night

Bonne Finken kicks off the Live at the Sonic Factory concert series Friday night with a show at the Des Moines recording studio starting at 7 p.m. Opening for Bonne Finken and her band The Collective will be the duo Month of May. Tickets for the show are $12 through Tikly, and they are disappearing fast. Finken (featured in the accompanying video) is currently recording her new album, Fairytales/Love Affairs, at the studio.

St. Louis-based Roots rocker Nikki Hill comes to the Gas Lamp on Friday to play the 9 p.m. show. Hill has been touring overseas in support of her full-length debut album Here's Nikki Hill. Tickets for the show are $10, and they may be purchased at the door or online through MidwesTix. This is a 21-and-over show. Hill takes the stage following the weekly Work Release Party featuring Bob Pace and The Dangerous Band. Admission for the early show, which starts at 4:30 p.m., is $5.

Wooly's will host Euforquestra's annual Home for the Holidays benefit tomorrow night starting at 8:30 p.m. The Iowa City natives bring their worldly blend of high intensity dance music back to Des Moines (from their current base in Fort Collins, Colorado) for their fourth annual fundraiser for the Food Bank of Polk County. Tickets for this 21-and-over show are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. They can be purchased online through Ticketfly or at the Wooly's box office. If you do purchase tickets at the door, you can get $1 off for donating a canned food item or $2 off for donating 2 canned food items. Proceeds from the silent auction and all merchandise sales will all be donated. David Zollo and Mr. Baber's Neighbors will open the show.

The Val Air Ballroom will also be hosting a benefit concert on Friday night. "SP3 & Friends: Rockin' Winter Wonderland Ball" will benefit the family of 6-year-old Kayley Lancaster as she battles Hydrocephalus, a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid on the brain, which currently has no cure. The event will feature performances from Des Moines digital funk group SP3, as well as Rebyl Road, Mighty Shady, Goodcat, and DJ Tucker, plus live painting by artist Nick Blaskovich, a raffle, food and beverage vendors, merch vendors, a hula hoop contest, games, and more. The Raffle money and a $1 from every ticket sold will go to the family. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Advanced tickets may be purchased at the Val Air box office or online through TicketWeb. Friday will be the first of two nights for Tonic Sol-fa at Hoyt Sherman Place. The popular a capella quartet will play all ages shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to see the group's holiday shows are $28 to $33 for adults and $23 to $28 for kids (12 and under) when purchased at the Hoyt Sherman box office. Tickets may also be purchased online through Ticketmaster.

Country rock band Lonesome Road will play The Lounge at Meskwaki Casino Friday at 8:30 p.m. The performance is free, but you must be 21 to get in. The band will be back onstage at Meskwaki on Saturday as well.
