Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie offically annouce separation. This is certianly a rocky start to the new year for the pair as they close the chapter on their three year marriage. The former Disney star and her hockey play husband Mike Comrie said their “I dos” in August of 2010 and have a two year-old son, Luca, together. In 2009, Hilary had nothing but nice things to say about her hubby “I’ve never met anyone who can say a bad word about him, he’s generous, caring and sunny. We just laugh our heads off.”
Although, the couples marriage didn’t workout the actress and singer still has only kind thoughts about Comrie; telling People’s Magazine in October “He’s an amazing father, he’s so patient and loving and involved. He’s all the things that I knew that he would be.” Duff’s people made an offical statement regrading the separation “[They] have mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation. They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives.”
The star herself tweeted about the news, writing, "Mike and I are sitting here, we are so appreciative for all of your kindness& well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together"
The couple will share custody of their son and did not make this desicion lightly. “There was no major incident – no big event between the two of them. They really did drift apart.” says a source close to the pair “They have put effort and thought into this decision for a long time. They tried couples therapy, but in the end, they realized at this time, they work better as friends. And they really are great friends.”
