Idina Menzel she is not, but former Nickelodeon parenting writer-turned-mommy blogger Deva Dalporto’s most recent viral video is a hit nonetheless. Released February 28, Dalporto’s parody of “Let It Go” clearly hit the right note with her growing fan base, with over 323,000 views on YouTube as of March 8.
The viral video drew 1.3 million views on the blog PopSugar, has been featured on People Magazine’s website, Fox News, Yahoo, and Huffington Post, and is spreading in popularity through shares on social media outlets, including Facebook and Twitter.
“I was shocked at the reaction to it,” Dalporto told The Daily Journal.
“People called it the mom anthem and I didn’t realize it would such a nerve with moms. People really, really love this one, what people are relating to is I kind of tell it like it is. I don’t sugarcoat parenting. It’s kind of a very honest song about what parenting is really like.”
Dalporto decided to create the video, she explains in her blog, because “Like everyone else on the planet, [she loves] ‘Let It Go' and Idina Menzel."
Gone, she says, are her days of trying to be perfect at balancing kids, career and the perfect house.
“Now I think the only way to do this parenting thing, and do it right,” Dalporto shares, “is to ‘Let It Go’ and do the best you can. Rock your muffin top in your messy house and laugh at the insanity of it all!
The book features some of the top mommy bloggers in the country, including the Lehigh Valley’s very own Keeper of the Fruit Loops, and will be out on March 22.
