I feel sorry for the male population sometimes. I hate to speak against my own gender, but we girls can make it really tough on you guys to approach us for friendship and dating. Is that an "Amen, Sista!" I'm hearing from my two male readers??
As a female myself, I'm not quite sure why we do this unless it's part of that whole women are from Venus men are from Mars thing. I can't count how many times I, myself, have attempted to broaden my circle of chick friends only to be rejected by snootiness. But don't give up on us, guys, because for every snooty girl you encounter, there are a few of us really cool chicks left to balance out the equation. Take Hilah Johnson for instance....
I don't know Hilah personally but I can tell you that she's one cool cat. She hails from Austin, Texas and in addition to being an actress and musician, she stars in her own homemade cooking show that is available on her website, Hilah Cooking! and on iTunes. If Hilah lived within a 100 mile radius of me here in the Queen City, we would so be BFFs. We'd get together, whip up some grub and throw down some drink although sources say Hilah could drink me under the table. Her warped sense of humor and quirky personality makes her totally approachable and friendable. Her cooking segments are hilariously awesome as well as educational about the basics of cooking but it's her cocktail episodes that make me want to be her friend. This Mysterious Cocktail 1934 from her beverage repertoire looks mighty potent and refreshing.

The Mysterious Cocktail 1934
- 1/2 Jigger Gin
- 1/2 Jigger Orange Curacao
- 1/2 Jigger Lemon Juice
- 1/4 Jigger Jamaican Rum
- 1/4 Jigger Grenadine
Directions:
Shake all ingredients together with ice. Pour into cocktail glass that has lip rubbed with lemon or orange slice and dipped in granulated sugar.

Hilah fan in Mebane (and former Austin resident). I am a big fan of Hilah's Cooking. She has a similar easy going cooking style to me, but she also presents her information in an easy to digest format (excuse the pun). I've exchanged a few recipes and ideas and stories with her ... I hope she continues this show for a long time.
