Enjoy the hiking trail that goes around Hensley Lake. The Buck Ridge hiking trail is a scenic hiking trail that is very close to Fresno. Additionally this hiking trail is surrounded by trees and meadows but a short distance from civilization. Additionally the views are relatively unobstructed along the hiking trail because the woodlands are a bit sparse so it is great for hiking in groups. The hiking trail is on the eastern side of the Hensley Lake. The hiking trail is a loop trail so you do not go hiking past the same scenery twice. Additionally there are several areas along the hiking trail where you have access to the shores and lake if you want to take a break and relax. Additionally the hiking trail has areas with large flat rocks so you can have a picnic along the hiking trail. You can also just sit on one of the rocks and enjoy the hiking trail's scenery. If you go hiking on a weekday you can often enjoy the hiking trail in peace and quiet except for the sound of nature. The hiking trail during the weekend can get quite busy so is not recommended during the weekends if you are looking for solitude. Also during the weekend you can get slowed down while hiking due to crowds.

The trail is basically rolling hills and dirt roads so hiking here is easy. If the hiking trail is not too crowded you can even go jogging on this hiking trail. The hiking trail does not have too much shade so you will want to bring both water and sunscreen if you go along this hiking trail. The Fresno area hiking trail is about 3.1 miles total. The hiking trail has basically no elevation gain so you don't have much worry about acclimating to thin air. You may want to avoid this hiking trail during the summer because of the lack of shade. During the summer the temperature along the hiking trail gets hot and may exceed 100 degrees. Additionally there is little to no access to clean water to drink as you are hiking unless you brought the water with you when you came to the hiking trail. The hiking trail is used both mountain bikers and also horse riders in addition to hikers. Therefore watch the ground when you are hiking to ensure your shoe does not get into something you would rather not get into. Additionally when you are hiking keep your eyes open because the mountain bikes can come by extremely quickly. The hiking trail is shown on the Buck Ridge Loop topography map in most cases. Additionally you can often see this hiking trail on the USGS Little Table Mountain map which is actually available online in a pdf or is also available at many times at the park office.
