If you are up for an hour drive the Devils Postpile Rainbow Falls is an amazing hiking experience. You have the opportunity to go hiking and see two of nature's great wonders. You see huge unusual volcanic formations plus a 100 foot water fall. This hiking trail is by Mammoth Lakes about 65 miles from Fresno.

The hiking trail is 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of only 300 foot. The hiking time is about 2 hours. However this is not due to distance as much as the amazing scenery. you may find yourself stopping constantly. The trail is extremely well maintained and very very easy to go hiking on. Depending on your fitness level you may even be able to go running on the hiking trail.

The trail head can be reached by 395. You exit at Mammoth Lakes Junction otherwise known as Highway 203. You turn left at the exit and then right at Minaret Road. You follow signed to Mammoth ski resort and park on the side of the road by the Devils Postpile trail head or in the Devils Postpile parking area. During the summer you often have to take a shuttle bus down to Red's Meadow and get off at the Devils Postpile parking area instead of driving there yourself.
