Visit Sacramento and hike the American River Bike Trail. This trail is also called and labeled as the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail. It hugs the banks of the American River and flows through some amazing riparian habitat. The hiking trail is 32 miles each way. The hiking trail starts at Discovery Park in Old Sacramento and ends at Folsom Lake's Beal Point. The hiking trail connects with the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail which is just north of the Azteca Stadium.
The great hiking and jogging trail is paved the entire way. The amazing hiking and jogging trail has mile markers along the majority of the way if not along the entire way. The hiking and jogging trail also has maps of the trail along the trail and several locations. Additionally the hiking trail has both water fountains and restrooms along the way for convenience. There are many many places for one to stop and eat or rest along the route. Another amazing thing about the hiking and jogging trail is that the majority of the trail is both shaded and level. There are a few sections on the hiking and jogging trail that do have a bit of rolling hills. There is a 2 mile section that is adjacent to the street with only a painted separation
