Rock 100.5 Atlanta says they are “The best thing to come out of Auburn since Bo Jackson.” . The Chatanooga Free Press proclaims them “Southern rock kings.” . Nick Margiasso of Metromix of Atlanta calls their sound "one part Matchbox 20 and two parts Black Crowes." The people of their hometown of Auburn, AL think they are just simply the best. Since their first public show in 2006, the tide has been high for Hightide Blues with a concerts, TV appearances and recording.
Paul McDonald (lead vocals/Acoustic Guitar), Jonathan Pears (Lead Guitar/Percussion),Scott Rollins (Drums) and Wesley Flowers (Bass Guitar) make up Hightide Blues. Combining acoustic and electric with a new sounding, old style, southern rock has given Hightide a sound all their own. Add in the pumping energy they have, and Hightide is on the fast lane of sold out shows. Since winning the Saturday Slot at Bonnaroo 2008, they have shared the stage with top stars such as Zac Brown Band, Graham Colton, Jason Isbell and The Whigs. This weekend they will add some even bigger names to the shared stage list as being one of over 70 acts slated for City Stages 2009 in Birmingham. But if you cant catch them there, don't fret, for Manager Bowe O'Brien has them a full tour including a show on June 19 at the Crossroads in Huntville, AL. and even an Atlanta Braves Game in September!
Hightide Blues First single "Dreamin' Alone is often heard on Live 100.5 FM in Birmingham. Bowe O'brien informed me that now all of Hightides music is available for free download. "One thing I'd like to get the word out about is that Hightide Blues is being innovative with our distribution in giving away ALL of our music to fans for free." Says Bowe. "You can go to www.hightideblues.com/music download all MP3s from our two EPs and a live show from Tipitina's in New Orleans (each packaged together). We're unsigned and are embracing the model of touring heavily and giving our music away to get it out to as many people as possible, to promote the band and get fans out to shows, and focus on putting on an incredible live show to entertain them once they are there"
