The film industry in Pittsburgh has celebrated a rich history , dating back to 1898, with its first film "Tancred Commandery". Hollywood has continued to appreciate the region with major productions like "The Deer Hunter", "Silence of the Lambs", "Dark Knight Rises", and "Jack Reacher", to name just a few, filmed in Pittsburgh
In 1990 the Pittsburgh Film Office was formed to promote Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania to the film industry. A non profit organization, the Pittsburgh Film Office has assisted more than 124 feature films and television productions and has generated more the $762 million to our local economy.
In an inventive fund raising concept , the film office began Lights! Glamour! Action! a red carpet event where patrons walk the red carpet, complete with paparazzi, to view a live telecast of the Academy Awards on big screens. Partnering with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the event has turned into the major social event in Pittsburgh, with over 900 patrons, attending last years event.
This years event,“Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Presents Lights! Glamour! Action!”™ will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Heinz Field, Club Level East.
Guest will enjoy gourmet food stations, live entertainment, a silent auction,and the best part, amazing fashions.
