Highlights of Pebble Beach Concours 2009: Bentleys, Bugattis, and brand new beauties

Highlights of Pebble Beach 2009 included classic Alfa Romeo B.A.T.s, Bentleys, Bugattis and debuts.

Pebble Beach Concours delivered on its promise as one of the world's premier car shows once again. This year's featured marques were Bentley and Bugatti, ensuring a turn out of these popular classics but Pebble Beach, always delivers way more than a collection of featured marques. An auction, a cruise or "tour" and a large selection of auto-related merchandise makes sure that the weekend has plenty to keep auto fans busy. And that's just the official stuff. There's the RM auction that regularly breaks records for the highest prices on cars, random shows in the area and all manner of car-related happenings.

Notable amongst officlal displays was the reappearance of Bertone's wild B.A.T. studies from the early fifties. Proof that Europe could rock with the best of futuristic concepts that U.S automakers produced, the three B.A.T.s were serious aerodynamic exercises with all the drama and excitement of American dream cars at their peak.

This year's winner was the Horch 853 Voll & Rurhbeck Sport Cabriolet. Pebble Beach judges seem to prefer swoopy 1930s European super cars for their grand prize circle.

New car debuts included the gorgeous new 2011 Bentley Mulsanne, the 2011 Fisker Karma, the Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder, the Devon Motorworks GTX, and the  Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Sang Bleu.

Please accept my invitation to enjoy the slide show of highlights from this incredible show.

And, see last year's Pebble Beach sports cars and GM dream cars at Pebble Beach.

I was there... Ok fine, I wasn't but I would have been if it wasn't for some extenuating circumstances... And if I had made it to Pebble Beach this year, you would have only seen me peeling away in my Spyker C8 Aileron, anyway.
