Last night, the BET Awards was held in Los Angeles. The awards were hosted by the legendary Chris Rock and the broadcast features mega-stars like Kerry Washington, Robin Thicke and even a performance by Jay Z and Beyonce.
The pre-show started with performances by Tinashe, Rich Homie Quan, YG, Meek Mills, Juicy J and more. The pre-show was hosted by Bow Wow, Keisha, Adirenne Bailon and more.
The main show was dominated by amazing performances which brought together unique collaborations and laid back, authentic performances. Pharrell started off the show with his performance of his song "Come Get It Bae." During the performance he brought out fellow Virginian Missy Elliot as a surprise. Missy Elliot hasn't been seen in ages and collaborated with Pharrell in his performance giving snippets of her song "Pass That Dutch."
Lil Wayne was next up to perform with his new single titled "Krazy." Accompanied by an over-sized flannel and a bucket hat, Wayne then performed part of his hit "Believe Me." No Drake, but still killed it on the delivery.
One of the best collaborations of the night was by John Legend and Jhene Aiko. John Legend started off the performance with his sweet, romantic song, "You & I," and was later the piano player to Jhene's performance of her smash single "The Worst." Legend displayed he knew the song pretty well singing along with Jhene as she sang. All the ladies in the crowd were relating to Jhene's strong, independent women lyrics. The performance was beautiful because it features two amazing R&B singer/song-wrtiers.
Chris Brown performed his huge single "Loyal." This was the first time he has performed his single live because of his incarceration. He showed that prison didn't diminish his dancing skills.
Usher performed his new single "Good Kisser," with an odd animal-looking hat on. He also brought it back, performing songs like "Yeah," "Confessions" and "Remind Me." His melody of hits proves that Usher is a true star.
Nicki Minaj performed her critically acclaimed single "Pills N Potions" on a stage filled with mushrooms and a dancing bunny. Some may claim the performance as odd, but it doesn't undermine the greatness of her song.
Next, Best New Artist, August Alsina hit the stage to perform his songs "Kissing My Tattoos" and "I Luv This S***." August showed the crowd why he deserves the Best New Artist award. He was later accompanied by R&B mega-stars Chris Brown and Trey Songz to perform their remix of "I Luv This S***." Trey Songz even stayed on the stage to perform his song "Oh NaNa."
Iggy Azalea and T.I. then took the stage to perform their new collaboration single "No Mediocre." After an attack on Iggy from Nicki, it was somewhat apparent that Iggy didn't feel so comfortable on stage. Rumor has it, that there is now beef between the two female rappers.
The most anticipated performance of the night was the closing performance by, of course, Jay Z and Beyonce. The BET Awards was a pit stop from their "On The Run Tour." The couple premiered their remix of Beyonce's sexy song "Partition."
Other performances include Robin Thicke, Gabi Wilson, Lionel Richie, Adrian Marcel and Jennifer Hudson. Check out all the videos of the performances here.
