The North American International Auto Show, or NAIAS as it's commonly referred to, is the first major auto show to kick off the auto show season. Most of the major debuts from the major automakers are showcased here, and this year wasn't any different.
We have complied what we feel like were the highlights of the show. Please click on the slideshow to see all of the details.
Here's what's in the slideshow:
Corvette Z06 - Chevrolet introduced its uplevel Corvette with the anticipated bump in horsepower and torque, as well as other performance bits to distance itself from the Stingray model. It was noted however, that they would not be introducing an even wilder successor to the almighty ZR1, thus leaving the Z06 as the top Corvette.
At least in the foreseeable future.
Kia GT4 Stinger Concept - The surprise hit of the show, this long-rumored Kia sports car would be the spiritual successor to the ill-fated Kia Elan, itself a rebadged Lotus Elan, which was a FWD two-seat convertible.
Toyota FT-1 - The widely-anticipated successor to the Toyota Supra debuted at the NAIAS. Although the production version may be similar to what we see here, it may or may not use the iconic Supra badge, and it may or may not have a hybrid option. What we know thus far is that it will be a joint development with BMW, as will the next-generation BMW Z4.
Porsche 911 Targa - The all-new 911 was recently introduced, and a targa version was expected. What wasn't expected was Porsche going back to its roots design-wise, while throwing in a bit of modern technology to really differentiate it from the other 911 versions.
That's it for the highlights from the 2014 North American International Auto Show, stay tuned for the highlights from the Chicago Auto Show next month.
