New York Fashion Week has come to a close. What was is now the current chatter of the moment right as we begin to roll up our sleeves again and head into the much anticipated global fashion weeks--London, Paris and Milan.
As with every fashion week each season, there is a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly. Which designer shows were tightly knitted in our good graces for NY Fashion Week? Michael Kors, who did a wonderful job with his variation of styles that included soft prints, camel colors, bandeau and short cuts, fur scarfs and trench coats for good measure.
Other designer showings that earned bragging rights; Philosophy who got back to basics with streamlined pastels in marked feminine silhouettes. BCBGMaxAzria who always manages to somehow bring something new to the table-- this time around narrow printed lines at the hem with sheer mesh panels atop of. And Prabal Gurung who created the perfect balance between classic frames with an edge with the right insert of color.
There were a few noticeable trends for the S/S14: loads of white, and what can best be described as a pastel sea green. Roomier silhouettes and more casual cuts at play, and for beauty trends slicker hair (Cushnie et Ochs, Altuzarra, Calvin Klein Collection, J.Mendel) and brighter lips (Prabal Gurung, Christian Soriano, Altuzarra, Rag & Bone)
There were also a number of shows that appeared to be on display for the fall as oppose to the spring (Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler to name a few). Overall, New York Fashion Week gave us a few things to look forward to for the S/S14 season. Here are 15 of the best looks from the New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week S/S14.
