Highasakite plays two free concerts in Los Angeles (Video)

Melodic, folk-pop Norwegian quintet, Highasakite, are making their U.S. debut at SXSW. Afterwards, they're kicking off their coast to coast American tour with two free concerts in L.A. this month! First up is Highasakite's St. Patrick's Day show at Amoeba Music Hollywood on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 5 p.m., where they will also sign their new EP. The following night, Monday, March 18, 2013, they will be rocking the stage at The Echo.

Lead singer-zitherist Ingrid Helene Håvik and drummer Trond Bersu began as a duo while studying at Trondheim Jazz Conservatory. With producer Thomas Dahl (Krøyt), who also plays bass and guitar, they built up their dreamy tones. Mix in Øystein Skar's synthesizer magic, and you've got a pretty, eerie sound that garnered a Norwegian Grammy nomination for Best Newcomer. To translate the studio recordings to the stage, they added Marte Eberson on synthesizer and Kristoofer Lo on guitar, percussion, flugabone and tuba

Highasakite's new EP, In and Out of Weeks, dropped on March 5. Be the first to hear their new songs live. View the video for the title song here.

As John Lennon once sang about his favorite Scandinavian, "Isn't it good Norwegian wood?"

Fly over and hear them.
