High-tech digital toilet training with the iPotty at Consumer Electronics Show

Toilet training has gone high tech with the iPotty at the Consumer Electronics Show. With iPotty, even toddlers have access to email, the internet, and high-tech entertainment. “It's an unspoken truth of gadgets that some people use their smartphone or even tablet computer while in the bathroom. Now even toddlers who are yet to master the toilet can get in on the action with iPotty – a child's toilet training potty with a built-in iPad stand,” reports Gizmag on Jan. 13, 2013.

While the idea of a high-tech toilet training toddler might sound absurd to some parents, a visit to the Consumer Electronics Show might be quite a wake-up call on the future of high-tech electronics. Not just for the big guys but also for the little ones.

The high-tech toilet training iPotty is designed for children ages six months to three years. Seeing three-year-old children or even younger children with an iPad or other high-tech devices in stores has become a part of today’s reality. Keeping little children busy and entertained makes shopping for some parents much easier.

Keeping children busy while doing “business” is one of the main objectives of the iPotty.

“The idea is that they won't mind sitting there for longer if they're watching a favorite cartoon or playing Angry Birds. And we've seen enough iPad toy add-ons – from the Mattel Apptivity Play to the iTikes range – to know kids love playing with an iPad,” writes Gizmag.

In order for the child’s “nature’s business” not to interfere with the child’s high-tech “entertainment business,” the iPotty comes with a removable plastic screen guard.

Parents who like to cater to their high-tech toddlers but also to their non-high-tech parents or grandparents love the design of the iPotty.

The iPotty combines the traditional design of a potty with a high-tech design. The iPad stand can be completely removed from the iPotty and turn it into just a traditional potty with a removable bowl and a removable “pee-guard” for little boys. The iPotty’s maker, CTA Digital, offers even a seat cover.

When used as a high-tech iPotty, the front of the potty has a stand that is uniquely designed to hold an iPad. The stand can be rotated vertically and horizontally to accommodate each child’s personal viewpoint while taking care of entertainment business and nature’s business.

The Apple iPad stand is compatible “with the iPad 2 and the 3rd or 4th generation iPad.”

Currently there is a wide variety of training apps available in the Apple App store and “there's no shortage of other apps which could be used to distract/entertain children while they sit on the potty.”

Otherwise there are no specific apps yet available for the iPotty.

For Gizmag guys, “we were hoping for a potty training equivalent of Sega's Toylet or Captive Media's urinal-based video games.” Unfortunately, some high-tech business matters will just have to wait a little longer.

For parents who are anxious to introduce their toddlers to the future of digital high-tech toilet training, the iPotty is scheduled to go on sale in March for a price of $40.

Since the little guys have their high-tech digital toilet training iPotty now, how about including a high-tech digital toilet training iPotty for the big guys in next year’s Consumer Electronics Show. Most women would be willing to pay more than $40 for a removable iPad stand, removable bowl, removable “pee guard”, and ideally a digitally controlled self-closing seat cover.
