SCWXA Winter Weather Advisory
Another frontal zone will come in from the northwest today. This frontal zone will be an interesting one on the fact that it may provide the High Desert communities with a dusting of snowfall overnight.
The Southern California Weather Authority has issued a winter weather advisory for the overnight, into Tuesday morning.
The snow level is expected to drop to around 3,000 feet, possibly lower at the elevation of the Victorville Airport. The level dropped will be above the Palmdale and Lancaster area and wet snow, possibly sleet will only be likely there overnight.
This snow level will put snow on the top of the Cajon Pass overnight, but in a dusting form. There is a chance of up to a couple inches in the higher elevations of the San Bernardino County Mountains, including the Big Bear area.
Since the flow is generally on the backside of the mountain ranges, Big Bear Lake will get light snow all night, not rain-shadowed like always.
The area to be hit the hardest will be the Kern County Mountains, including the town of Tehachapi. A realistic few inches of snow is likely there as snow levels drop below the 3,000 foot mark overnight, ending at 2,500 feet. Higher elevations may see several inches of snow.
