As I drive through various neighborhoods to take video and pictures for the soon-to-be-released update of my website SavannahNeighborhoodGuide.com, I like to try and get pictures and video of every neighborhood I can find so that I can share it with my viewers and readers. I want everybody to find their favorite home in their favorite neighborhood. After all, life is all about being happy with your family, right?
So part of the point of my blog is that throughout my travels, I'll point out neighborhoods that I think are noteworthy in some way, and this week I'm writing a quick blog on a small community I've encountered recently, and that's Burnside Island.
Located south of Isle of Hope and west of Skidaway Island, Burnside is a small community that offers a nice little batch of neighborhoods off the beaten path, with everything from your common ranch-style homes found in many areas of Savannah, all the way to more modern island-style homes you'll see as you head more east towards the Islands section of Savannah. While there isn't really any shopping to be had in the area with the exception of some convenience stores, Burnside is really just a few minutes from Harry Truman Parkway, and that'll get you were you need to go quickly as that reaches to the rest of Southside, to Midtown, to Downtown, and Islands Expressway if you're going to the beach.
Prices on these homes generally range from the $100k - $700k range, with homes featuring anything from large yards, to waterfront views. For a good idea of the types of homes this neighborhood has to offer, my suggestion would be to take Harry Truman Parkway to Whitefield Avenue, and then drive down Shipyard Rd as well. There's various neighborhoods that branch off from both of these roads, and you can get a great idea of what's out there with just a little bit of driving.
I hope you've enjoyed this overview of Burnside Island, and keep checking back for more updates. SavannahNeighborhoodGuide.com should also be updated with new video and pictures by the beginning of Summer.
