2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NLT)
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
It’s funny how you can hear something hundreds of times and then one day you discover something new in the very same thing. The famous worship song, “How He Loves” is very popular. Many churches from all denominations sing it Sunday after Sunday and even the occasional Wednesday but somehow it never grows old as the Spirit of God takes these words and sews them into my heart. To realize that God is jealous for me is a revelation in its own right. How can one God even considered that He is Triune (Father, Son and Spirit) manage to love so many with such attentive affection? He loves like a hurricane and I am a tree. If God loves us that much then why are there so many storms in the seasons of life? Present troubles that seem so large and never ending reduced to momentary trials in His Word seem monumental to a finite human mind with only a measure of faith. In the midst of worship, His Love seems so real and tangible until the cold, hard reality and brutality of this world meet us at the door exiting the church. How do I find the place that “I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by His Glory”? How do we learn to fix our gaze on the things that cannot be seen only experienced by faith in God releasing the fear and horrors of what we can see all around us? For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
The enemy has used cancer to wage war against our family. Three times now, it has reared its ugly head. Giving up is not an option for the cost would be the life of our son. I refuse to give that up for anyone. How in the midst of the affliction his body has endured can we see the Glory of God revealed? When will it happen? Will our faith last that long? All of our bodies are dying yet our spirits renewed day by day. Well, I am not ready for my son’s body to die or any of my other children for that matter. God has promised that He will live and not die. What is the secret to successfully seeing the Glory of God rather than the details of this disease? When will I suddenly be unaware of the affliction eclipsed by His Glory revealed in the Love of God for me? Where is the hidden glory that I so greatly desire?
Isaiah 58:8-11 (NLT)
“Then your salvation will come like the dawn and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the LORD will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply. “Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors! Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”
Unwrapping the Glory of God in the midst of hardship and adversity is not as hard as one would think unless all that we consider is ourselves. When we become all wrapped up in ourselves, God cannot move in such an atmosphere or attitude for that matter. It is godliness or god-like-ness that has the ability to propel us from our circumstances to the solution. However, most of the time rather than rolling the burden over to the Lord, we choose to attempt to see it through and carry the load ourselves. Our hands become entangled in the midst of God’s Workings. Our complaints silence our faith. Doubt moves us from His Presence into perplexity. Suddenly all that we can see is the problem. But if we would only stop for a moment to thoroughly evaluate our problem in accordance with God’s Word and His Plan, maybe we would see God’s Plan and Promise. Our life would change from living a life perplexed with problems to an eclipse of glory. See the Light of the World is on the inside of you attempting to work its way out. There is a lot of junk that must be removed and there is no better way to destroy trash than a bonfire. As the Holy Spirit begins to stir up God’s Solution as a viable option, it becomes clear that the only way through this mess is faith. As we take faith and begin to plant it, labor over it, work it and produce a harvest of blessing for others, we forget our problems and become His Solution.
Isaiah 60:19-20 (NLT)
“No longer will you need the sun to shine by day, nor the moon to give its light by night, for the LORD your God will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set; your moon will not go down. For the LORD will be your everlasting light. Your days of mourning will come to an end.”
If we are to walk by faith and not by sight, then the sun, moon, day, night and storms of life are irrelevant. Faith makes the Light of God’s Love enough to guide us through each day. He put His Light in our heart so it could lead us no matter what is happening all around us. How is that working for you? If believers can learn to cultivate the Light of God’s Love beginning inside of their heart, fueled by His Word and fostered by faith, we may just make it to His Kingdom!
Isaiah 60:21-22 (NLT)
“All your people will be righteous. They will possess their land forever, for I will plant them there with my own hands in order to bring myself glory. The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation. At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.”
Here is God’s Plan: 1) You will possess the land, 2) You will be planted by faith in righteousness, and 3) You will prosper at just the right time. God is going to make this happen in your life if you are willing to be His People. His People are righteous and live in right-standing with the Lord no matter what is going on around them by faith. They remain faithful to their first love in the midst of opposition and oppression never backing away from the Father’s Love no matter how hot the fire of refinement gets. Be warned! You will have to wait this thing out to find His Hidden Glory because it is just that good. God is a jealous God and will not share His Glory with another so He will wait out all your substitutions and counterfeits to insure it results in His Fulfillment not your shortcut. He wants you to have all that He has promised not just some of it.
Isaiah 61:3 (NLT)
To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the LORD has planted for his own glory.
God’s Goal is that you will be made into a mighty oak of righteousness that cannot be moved by anything man or the enemy can bring about but that you just sway back and forth in His Glory and Grace. That’s right to make it you will need a whole lot of grace simply because you are a human being who does not take kindly to discomfort, interruptions and if you are like me hate to wait! Our sinful nature cries out for relief today. We complain and grumble at the inconveniences of the unexpected that arise in life but God is calling us inward. His Spirit is reminding us of that measure of faith that we are growing into a mighty oak. It needs time to grow deep roots. In seasons of drought when there is no rain, we grow deeper in the Word of God to find Living Water. In the famine, it is the Bread of Life that feeds the soul. In the midst of the storm, only a firm foundation will hold us tightly in His Presence while we are transformed into who we are created to be.
Isaiah 43:7 (NLT)
“Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.”
Just to be clear, we were all created for God’s Glory. It is who you are and your purpose in life. So why wouldn’t God work out every detail of your life for good if it is ultimately our purpose to glorify Him? Everything is intended to glorify God. (Romans 11:36) All of His Promises are “yes” and “amen” because His Glory is ready to be released in your life. (2 Corinthians 1:20) Who you are and what you have done has no bearing on what God plans to do for you because it is not about you but His Amazing Love to be demonstrated once more! Stop worrying about the details of your life and align your life with God every step of the way. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Walk by faith and not by sight. You will unwrap the Glory of God hidden in each and every trial of your life if you will only believe. It is never too late to see His Glory manifested!
John 11:33-44 (NLT)
When Jesus saw her weeping and saw the other people wailing with her, a deep anger welled up within him and he was deeply troubled. “Where have you put him?” he asked them. They told him, “Lord, come and see.” Then Jesus wept. The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!” But some said, “This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?” Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance. “Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.” Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in grave clothes, his face wrapped in a head cloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”
Jesus wept. I wonder if it was from sadness or sheer frustration that no matter what our Lord did no one would just trust Him. When the Lord tries desperately to reveal His Glory in our lives it is all too human to give up, give in or make an excuse before we are willing to trust Him. Jesus told them to roll away the stone but they refused because it would stink of rotting flesh. So it told them to do it again! Lazarus came up out of the grave. Oh that the Lord could resurrect my faith when it is failing to see life beyond the grave and live for His Glory even when I feel like giving up. We must never excuse our faith just continue to find opportunities to see the Lord’s Glory revealed in it. It all depends just how far we are willing to go to unwrap God’s Glory in our trials and troubles in life. If you give in or give up, you will find momentary relief but only those who make it to the promise will experience God’s Glory, fulfillment and satisfaction followed by His Peace and Joy!
John 11:4-7 (NLT)
But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” So although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, he stayed where he was for the next two days. Finally, he said to his disciples, “Let’s go back to Judea.”
The Lord told His Disciples that “Lazarus’s sickness would not end in death.” God has told me that “my son will live and not die.” How far am I willing to go by faith to see His Word come to pass? What if the people refused to roll the stone off of Lazarus’s grave? How would he ever have escaped death? If I am not willing to open my heart by faith to the Way and Will of God found in His Word, then how do I expect His Glory to be revealed in my life?
John 1:14 (NLT)
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Jesus Christ has made it possible for all of us to experience the Glory of God once more. He has shown us God’s Unfailing Love and Faithfulness allowing us to now experience it firsthand. What is keeping you from God’s Very Best for your life? Every promise is yours to be claimed. The solution to the problems plaguing you is available. By faith, you can have it all in the midst of whatever you are going through and God’s Glory will be revealed in the end. There is a Light at the end of the tunnel. His Name is Jesus. Just keep walking in His Direction and you will find your way. Do not give up. Do not stop moving. Do not let go of your faith to grab hold of any lie. Jesus will empower you to do everything that He did and so much more by faith no matter how impossible it seems. (John 14:12-14)
Romans 6:9-10 (NLT)
We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
Live to experience the Power and Glory of God today! Do not settle for anything less than God’s Very Best especially when it comes to the trials of life. It matters how you live. Only those who decide to live in righteous, obedience can bring Glory to God through grace, mercy and love. Jesus made it available to you to share with others. So live by faith, don’t worry about your problems. Live in an eclipse of His Glory that will overshadow and overpower all the obstacles in your life as He moves you closer and closer in His Presence. His Word WILL come to pass in your life if you choose to stay put. His Way will be clear as you live led by His Spirit. No weapon formed against you can prosper as His Glory and Grace shields and protect you. (Psalm 3:3-6) He will withhold nothing good from you. (Psalm 84:11) You will be victorious! (Psalm 44:7-8) Sin has no power in your life. The consequence of sin no longer drives your destiny. Live for the Glory of God! So now, I am unaware of the afflictions eclipsed by Glory and I realize just how beautiful you are and how great your affection for me! And oh, how He loves us!
Haggai 2:6-9 (NLT)
“For this is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: In just a little while I will again shake the heavens and the earth, the oceans and the dry land. I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will be brought to this Temple. I will fill this place with glory, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”
