My Scouting Report: He has a short, compact swing from both sides of the plate…drives his hips through the ball well…has power potential…he has a quiet confidence about him…very good speed with long quick strides.
MLB.com’s assessment: It hasn't come quickly for the 2008 first-rounder, but if the second half of 2010 was any indication, it looks like it's starting to happen now. He's got tools aplenty and even if he doesn't develop a ton of power, he has all the other tools at his disposal. Hicks hit .308/.429/.459 in the second half last year. If he can keep it going this year in the Florida State League, he could be on his way toward being a special center fielder. MLB.com lists him as the Twins’ No. 1 prospect and the No. 7 outfield and No. 32 overall prospect in all of baseball.
Future: He can play any of the three outfield positions, but appears to be the heir apparent to Denard Span in center. His estimated time of arrival in the majors is 2013. He looks to be a part of a very good outfield with Ben Revere in left and German-prospect Max Kepler in right. He should be a middle of the order run producer.
