Today marks the official exit from open beta and launch day for Hi-Rez studios SMITE -- their long-awaited entry into F2P (free-to-play) MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) gaming space.

To celebrate, they've released a short cinematic teaser. And on March 28th-30th, 2014 they are hosting an official launch tournament in Atlanta, Georgia with more $200,000 in prize money at stake. In addition, the first place team of the launch tournament will be invited (expenses paid) to Shanghai China to compete against the Chinese Team during the Tencent Games Arena in June.

The Smite launch tournament will be held at the Center Stage Theater at 1374 West Peachtree St NW Atlanta, GA 30309. You can watch the action in-person at Atlanta's Center Stage Theater or online via the SmiteGame channel on Twitch.

The beginning bracket for the Smite's double-elimination launch tournament are as follows:

  • Cognitive Gaming vs. Team Coast
  • Cloud 9 vs. SNIPE
  • Team SoloMid vs. Denial eSports
  • Team Dignitas vs. SK Gaming
