HGTV has done it again. The top-rated cable network and American lifestyle and home brand surpassed its own ratings record when fans were able to ask their favorite home and garden stars questions on the social media site Twitter about decorating and renovating. The Futon Critic stated on Jan. 3 that it was HGTV's best weekly social media performance ever and that as many as 1.96 million tuned in on New Year's to learn what 50 of the networks stars would have to say about a multitude of topics, while others watched the Rose Parade.

Love It or List It stars were part of the Twitter party, as were stars from the Property Brothers, Rehab Addict and there were even tweets about the Rose Parade. And speaking of Love It or List It, the former ABC Bachelorette and HGTV co-host star of that show, Jillian Harris, is going to be answering more interior design questions at the January Salt Lake Home Show on Fri., Jan. 10 and Sat. Jan. 11.

The spike in ratings for the popular home improvement cable network is not unusual considering they recently unveiled their new HGTV Dream Home 2014 Giveaway prize situated in Truckee, Calif. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home is loaded with the latest and best products and sits in the midst of the Schaffer's Mill community, surrounded by a beautifully landscaped property adjacent to a golf course and magnificent mountain views.

In fact, sweepstakes entries for the prize estimated at over $2 million (and which includes an all-new 2014 Yukon Denali and $250,000 in cash) are pouring in faster than tweets on New Years Day. And this Examiner pointed out that entering the random drawing wasn't just an online opportunity limited to twice a day, as the rules clearly state those who want to increase their odds of winning this prize can mail in their entries as many times as they want each day, provided they follow the guidelines for doing so.

And for those who just want a piece of the Dream Home in the form of some of the many products it contains, there is the current Round 3 vote and sweepstakes entry for that HGTV opportunity. But you better hurry, as that contest ends on Jan. 16.
