The HGTV Dream Home 2014 rules state that on or about March 3-9, 2014 the representatives of the sponsor of the home giveaway may contact the winner via an "ambush style" notification process. And that means that some lucky winner of the Truckee, Calif. new mountain home should have heard by Sunday that they won a $2 million valued dream home, a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali and a check for $250,000. Was it you?
The home and garden company announced on their Dreams Happen HGTV Home Giveaway Blog on Feb. 26 that they had randomly chosen a winner out of 72, 427,440 entries. That means one person out of a little more than 72 million competitors will receive the keys to this pristine Bonanza Ponderosa-like home in April. But they were told about the win this week.
We will not know who the winner is until April 15, 2014 at 6 p.m. ET, unless some nosey neighbor decides to educate the masses on the dream home blog site like happened during the 2011 giveaway. During that HGTV visit to the winner's home that year, a neighbor saw Monica Pederson arrive at the winner's home in Hinsdale, Illinois and inform him of his win, according to About.com. And the neighbor just couldn't keep the news to himself, letting those on the dream home blog site know about the visit.
Did you see who received a visit from HGTV this week? Will you be able to keep it a secret until the official April announcement date? Or were you the winner of the coveted new mountain home made of glass, steel and wood, with a beautiful interior designed by Linda Woodrum? If you didn't win this $2 million home of your dreams this time, there is always next year to try again. Or you could enter to win the PCH Dream Home sweepstakes until June 23, which will award some lucky person a whopping $3 million to build their own fantasy home.
