Christmas may be behind us but the chance to win a dream home from one of two giveaways is still ahead, and neither company will be charging for the opportunity to walk away with a home worth more than a million dollars. Entry for the HGTV Dream Home 2014 Giveaway begins on Dec. 27, according to the home and garden television's online site. And entries will be accepted through Feb. 14.
No purchase or online entry is necessary to win, and purchasing any item will not improve your chances of winning. Online entries can be submitted once per day from each of two websites: www.hgtv.com and www.frontdoor.com.
HGTV Dream Home giveaway entrants can also mail in their entry directly to the company on a piece of paper or postcard no larger than 8 1/2 by 11 inches. There is no limit to the number of mail-in entries per person per day, which increases your odds of winning.
You have to be a legal resident of the U.S., its territories, possessions or commonwealths to enter. And you must be at least 21 years of age. Anyone with ties to HGTV or others affiliated with the giveaway professionally, as well as their family members, are not eligible to enter.
Based on official rules, HGTV will choose a grand prize winner in a random drawing on or about Feb. 26., but the winner will not be notified until March 3-9, when they will be contacted by phone, email, in-writing or "ambush style" by the Home and Garden Television personnel. The "Winner Weekend" announcement will occur around April 3-6, 2014.
Publishers Clearing House (PCH) is also holding a dream home giveaway. Announcements about it began early in 2013, and although it has been talked about on the PCH Blog from April to October 2013, the giveaway has still not been held yet.
PCH has not announced a definite drawing date thus far, but the prize being announced will be a $3 million-dollar dream home. And the last date to enter is Feb. 20, but the sweepstakes facts on the #3080 giveaway sheet shows an end date of Aug. 31, 2015. So it is still unclear when this prize will be awarded.
