On Jan. 6, “Parade” posted home buying tips from one of the stars of HGTV’s new real estate series “Beat the House,” Christopher Kromer. “Hire a professional” tops his list. This is just one nugget of sage advice viewers will learn from watching Christopher compete against fellow realtor, Jojo Jones as they attempt to convince home buyers they have found a better alternative to the home the owners have already picked.

With extensive backgrounds in real estate, one thing is certain: Christopher and Jojo know the ins and outs of buying and selling a home.

The fun new series premieres Jan. 7 and puts an exciting spin on the home buying process. An obvious takeaway is that buying a home is a huge investment and buyers should find a knowledgeable, trustworthy agent to help them navigate through what can often be a murky and overwhelming process.

During a recent Examiner exclusive interview, a very charismatic Jojo Jones stressed the importance of working with a seasoned professional to make such a large and important purchase.

“There’s a lot of people out there that just are in it for the money and we all are working. But, you need a passionate agent on either side, buying or selling, that truly, truly has your best interest at heart,” said Jojo. “I think that both the buyers and sellers that we dealt with really saw that and I hope that will transfer to national television to people because it’s important. If you try to do it on your own, without any knowledge, you’re going to end up in a house that’s so wrong for you or that you way overpaid for.”

A large part of the charm of many of HGTV’s real estate series such as “House Hunters,” “Love It or List It,” and now, the upcoming “Beat the House,” is the valuable lessons viewers and potential home buyers and homeowners can learn by watching others go through the incredibly complex home buying process. They can discover important things to look out for, important things to consider, and hopefully, ways to avoid common pitfalls.

Ultimately, owning a home remains one of the biggest parts of living the American Dream, and “Beat the House” offers a fun look at how Christopher Kromer and Jojo Jones use their skills and expertise to help make some home buyers’ dreams come true.

“Beat the House” premieres Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11 p.m. ET on HGTV.
