Hey, Austin: Want to see Adam Green and Joe Lynch at the Drafthouse tonight?

If you're living in the Austin area (or, who knows, maybe you're up for a drive)(or a lengthy flight), we've got a bit of news that might pique your interest:  tonight, at the Alamo Drafthouse, directors Joe Lynch and Adam Green will take the stage to pass out schwag, screen some silly-ass horror footage, and hang out with the assembled crowd.  Wanna know more?  Of course you do.  Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...

Tonight, the Alamo Drafthouse (the Ritz location, for those of you familiar with Austin's-- no, the world's-- greatest theater chain) welcomes directors Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, the only Wrong Turn that was worth seeing) and Adam Green (the Hatchet films) for a one-night-only event.  If you're living in the Austin area, you really, really need to be there for tonight's show.  Here's the details, according to the fine folks over at Badass Digest:

Joe (Wrong Turn 2, The Knights of Badassdom) Lynch and Adam (Hatchet, Frozen) Green are coming to Austin on Monday to throw a Christmas party at the Alamo. They'll be showing lots of shorts, a slasher film, and doing a reverse trivia contest where you try to stump them with horror trivia. It's going to be a fun time, and it's a fundraiser for a cool project - building an elevator at the Austin American Legion Hall to give access to disabled vets. They'll be holding a silent auction for a ton of props and a date with film critic Scott Weinberg, with all the proceeds going to that good cause.

If you check out this page, you'll see that a whole bunch of cool props, memorabilia, and movies are going to be up for grabs tonight:  props from the Hatchet films (including, yes, a hatchet), props from Lynch's upcoming The Knights of Badassdom (which looks incredibly cool, by the way), posters for the duo's Chillerama, and more!

As Badass Digest has noted above, all of the auctions are going to serve the American Legion Hall, but that isn't to say that you'll only be able to land some of this stuff by spending money:  there's also going to be a "Stump Adam and Joe" horror-trivia contest, and if you're able to stump either of these directors on their horror-film knowledge, you'll walk away with a prize (but, really, you probably should drop a little coin on the American Legion Hall;  it's Christmas, for God's sake).

In addition to all these giveaways and auctions, the guys will also be screening a handful of horror shorts (all of which are certain to be as darkly-comic as the rest of Lynch and Green's ouevre), footage from Chillerama, a secret slasher movie (I'm told that the film-in-question gives Troll 2 a run for its money in the "so bad it's good" department), and a bunch of other horror-related footage that sounds like it'll be a blast to watch.  All of this for the low, low price of $13?  That's a helluva deal, people.

Head on over to THIS page to purchase tickets for yourself, a loved one, someone you don't like-- whoever.  It's all going to a good cause, so it really doesn't matter who you bring (By the way, I'll be there tonight if anyone wants to stop by and have a drink with their preferred Examiner.com reporter; I'll be the dude slamming vodka tonics like it's the end of the world).
