The Patterson Park Audubon Center is offering youth bird watching on May 24 for children between grades 6 and 12. The hours are 8 - 10 a.m. Participants will act as citizen scientists and help collect data on birds. No experience is necessary, but registration is required. The Patapsco Valley State Park in Carroll County is holding a bird search on May 24. It will run 10 - 11 a.m. Participants will work with park rangers to find and identify all the bird species in the McKeldin area. The Cunningham Falls State Park in Frederick County is offering a Waterfall Walk on May 24. It will run 1 - 2 p.m. The park naturalist will take visitors to the longest cascading waterfall in Maryland and teach them about local bird species. Visitors should bring a drink and wear sturdy shoes for the hike. Admission costs $5.00 for Marylanders and $7.00 for out-of-state residents. The Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary and Visitor's Center is holding Nature Up Close: Turtles on May 24. It will run 2-3 p.m. Participants will learn about native turtles and see some. The Herring Run Nursery in Baltimore is having a sale on May 25. The hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The nursery offers nearly 150 species of native trees and bushes and almost 100 species of native flowers and grasses.
