Heroin Happy Meals were apparently being sold at a McDonald's in Pittsburgh. An employee was selling heroin in Happy Meals boxes through the drive-thru. According to a report from late Wednesday (Jan. 29), customers were told to state "I'd like to order a toy" when they got up to the menu. The customer would then hand over the money at the window and get the drugs in the McDonald's box.
Authorities were able to make an arrest in this case by setting up a drug buy with undercover agents. It led to the arrest of 26-year-old Shania Dennis at the scene. The arrest led to the discovery of 10 bags of the drug in one box and another 50 bags on the suspect herself. It was reported that Dennis was claiming innocence and that she had done nothing wrong when she was being led away in handcuffs.
This is certainly a disturbing story for anyone that might have frequented this Pittsburgh area McDonald's, but the authorities have stated that there is no reason to assume that the heroin Happy Meals are still being sold there. It hasn't yet been revealed what charges Dennis is going to face, but it will probably include possession with intent to sell at the very least. It also sounds like the prosecution isn't taking these accusations lightly.
