A Turlock man was taken into custody for possession of heroin and methamphetamine after a companion was arrested for shoplifting, the Turlock Police Department announced Friday in an emailed statement.
Sara Sanchez-Morales, 27, was arrested after allegedly concealing merchandise in her purse at Tractor Supply Co. on North Walnut Road.
She was arrested for commercial burglary after she left the store.
That is when they discovered her companion, 47-year-old John Tenbrink was found with drugs in his possession.
Both were booked by police officers.
The incident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
In unrelated cases, police arrested several suspects on a busy Thursday.
Ricky Harris, 33, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. after he allegedly walked in the vicinity of Kohl's on Countryside Drive trying to open parked vehicles.
Officers booked him for loitering.
Two were arrested for battery in unrelated incidents.
Aundre Rawlins, 19, was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence near Fifth Street and Villa Woods Drive. No further information was available.
Phillip Chidester, 34, was arrested for misdemeanor battery after punching someone on Julian Street, police said.
He was issued a citation and released at the scene, police said.
The incident took placer at about 4:18 p.m.
Gregory Snelson, 33, was arrested and booked on a no-bail warrant after officers responded to an 11:05 p.m. call to a Thor Street residence for a disturbance.
Arrests are not proof of guilt. Guilt and innocence are determined in a court of law.
