In Atlanta, Georgia, a hero is remembered after saving a four-year-old boy. Simon, a male Boxer, pushed his owner's young son out of the way of a speeding car after he and his owner were struck by the same vehicle, according to WRCBtv.com.
Dave Furukawa was struck by a car that ran a stop sign, after it had already hit Simon, as he was walking his child to school. Furukawa has Simon as a guide dog, who was walking alongside when the incident occurred.
Witnesses say that after Furukawa was hit by the car, Simon, with a broken leg, an open wound and internal bleeding, jumped to push the four-year-old out of harm's way. Simon continued to look after the little boy as witnesses carried the child to his mother. Not until Simon saw the child was okay did he lie down and pass away.
“He's been my eyes and buddy,” said Dave Furukawa. "This is true loyalty and courage."
