Heroes in music: Songs for Sandy Hook released

Musicians from around the world have come together to support Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. In a press release dated December 28, 2012, musicians Manda Mosher and Brandon Schott created the Songs for Sandy Hook, a digital, two-disc compilation of songs to support the counseling efforts at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut.

The hospital is partnering with other counseling and mental health agencies to provide 24-hour services to Newtown and surrounding communities.

Manda had this to say after the shootings,

“After the initial shock and loss of these precious lives at Sandy Hook, I felt an expression of love was necessary. Being a musician, we turn to song in times of sorrow and comfort.”

They received an enormous response of song donations from musicians in the U.S. and from around the world. It was decided to make the Songs for Sandy Hook a multiple volume compilation. Manda states,

We are sending our love to the victims families. We are with them in mourning and in healing.

Some of the thirty-four musicians you will find on the compilation are Manda Mosher, Brandon Schott, A.J. Croce and Wisconsin's own Liv Mueller. The digital compilation is $20.00 with each song $1.00. But, the organization says that any donation towards the cause is wonderful and appreciated. The Songs for Sandy Hook compilation can be purchased through www.songsforsandyhook.com.

Heroes come in many forms and the musicians on Songs for Sandy Hook have taken a step to assist the victims of a major tragedy with their outpouring of love.
