This past weekend, thousands of Magic players around the world took to Theros Game Day and went up against the first official non-player-controlled Magic product ever - the Face the Hydra Challenge Deck, the first challenge of the nine-step Hero's Path that runs through Theros block. Though this was a trial run for something that was very experimental, responses were overwhelmingly positive (though some complained the Hydra was simply too easy of an opponent to feel like a proper struggle). Now, according to Trick Jarrett's magicthegathering.com Arcana article from today, you can adorn yourself with a new t-shirt from mtgmerch.com to commemorate your victory over the foul monster.
The stylish and minimalistic black tee features a charming white-line drawing of a severed Hydra head, with cartoon Xs on its eyes and its tongue lolling humorously out, in a pool of similarly wacky red-line blood. Underneath that is "Face the Hydra" in white text next to a checkbox checked off in red. This is the perfect way to advertise your Hero's Path triumph and consequently what a committed nerd you are.
Hopefully, the next two challenges for Born of the Gods and Journey into Nyx will spawn t-shirts of their own, simply because I know many players would like to parade around wearing a cartoon version of Xenagos's corpse on their chests.
