The German settled town of Hermann, Missouri is known in the Midwest for its wineries. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from, which of course means you can find German food. Hermann Wurst Haus is a locally owned and operated deli serving over 45 varieties of homemade bratwurst and sausage.
Owners Mike and Lynette Sloan opened the store in 2011 after purchasing an old auto parts store and converting it to what it is today. Mike has a long background in this business. From a young age, Mike helped his parents with their meat processing business in Swiss, Missouri.
Hermann Wurst Haus offers a free tasting of their brats. Step up to the tasting bar where you will sample 5 of their brats. Side dishes include baked beans, German potato salad (which is served warm), red cabbage, pasta salad and even dessert. Made with a dash of moonshine, the pecan peach bread pudding is the most popular dessert.
