Christophe Lemaire in his fourth season with Hermès; stuck with what Hermès is known for: timeless, effortless, resplendent, style. Or as the Hermès artistic director, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, put it: “Parisian elegance and timeless beauty.”

The library on the rooftop of an old Parisian school, where guests were greeted with a horse-blanket coat thrown over a chair and by velvet sofas on which to drink in the beauty of historic books; was an ode to the old paris that still captivates and enthralls the vulgar masses; as they tear down the last remaining traces of classical antiquity; with their mindless twitter tweets, and narcissistic self-absorbed FaceBook posts.

Immaculately shaped and textured monochromes, like the light-sucking sheen on the black ponyskin shift worn by model Kati Nescher, or the soft-shouldered swoop of the coat that draped Arizona Muse's belted cardigan, or the croc pencil skirt paired with a zipped navy blouson; showed what Ready-to-Wear can be even in a world of decadent Fast Fashion.

The melding of the textures in a goatskin, lamb and “moiré calfskin”, was the last word in effortless fashion. Ethereal.

Oh what will become of us......
